Carlyle Foundation

Through the newly-formed Carlyle Foundation (named in honor of his slain son Carlton Grant Jr), Spragga Benz will give scholarships to Jamaican students. Of course the students will go through a selection process, and upon receipt of the scholarship will have to met certain criteria to keep it.



Funding for the foundation will be coming from the upcoming Life Fest: Peace and Love Concert, scheduled to be held on Carlisle’s birthday, May 2 at Backyard, Constant Spring Road. It will feature performances from some of Spragga’s friends including Stephen and Damian Marley, Wayne Wonder, Sizzla, Queen Ifrica, Tanya Stephens, Jah Cure and Chino along with Spragga himself.

 

REPORT ON THE CAMPERDOWN HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTATION DONE ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2009

On Thursday September 24, 2009, The Camperdown High School was the venue where some students were awarded for their academic accomplishments by the “Carlye Foundation”.  This Foundation was set up in memory of Carlton Grant Jnr., a past student of the Camperdown High School. 

Life Fest Peace & Love Concert, held on Saturday, May 05, 2009 was the first project of the Carlyle Foundation.

The aim will be to continue supporting students who have the drive to succeed academically.

Ms. V. Grant, board member of the Caryle Foundation and aunt of the late Carlton Grant Jnr; makes a presentation of a cheque $30 000 to Mr. Romaine Barrett a second year Medical Student at the University of the West Indies.

Also in the picture is Kenisha Byfield a Grade 12 student of Camperdown High, Okiney Clarke, a first year Pure and Applied, student at the University of the West Indies, Mrs. Cynthia Cooke, Principal of Camperdown High School and in the background is Mr. Glenroy McIntosh a second year student of the Humanities Department of the University of the West Indies.

Ms. V. Grant makes presents $20 000 to Kenisha Byfield a Grade 12 student of Camperdown High School to offset her tuition expenses.

 

Ms. V. Grant makes a presentation of $40, 000 to Mr. Okiney Clarke first year student of Pure and Applied at the University of the West Indies. This is to offset his tuition fees.

 

Ms. V. Grant makes a presentation of $30, 000 to Mr. Glenroy McIntosh a second year student at the University of the West Indies, Humanities Department. This is to offset his tuition fees.

 

 

Ms. V. Grant makes a presentation of $20, 000 to Ms. Cheryl Rigg, Chairperson Camperdown Alumni Kingston Chapter. This is to assist with the upcoming reunion to be held on October 17, 2009.
